Carp on The Fly

Fast becoming one of the most pursued game fish on the fly, the Common carp or European carp (Cyprinus carpio) is a widespread freshwater fish and thrives in the waters of the northern Rocky Mountains. Common carp are extremely popular with anglers in many parts of Europe, and their popularity as quarry among fly-anglers in the United States is the fastest growing in the industry.

She Carp

Many large Wyoming reservoirs are home to thousands of carp ranging in size from five to over thirty pounds. The chance to sight fish to these hard fighting giants is fast being described as “the bonefish of the West.” It says something that many of Rock Creek Anglers’ guides spend their day off wade fishing the acres of flats only twenty minutes away for the opportunity to tie into a “20 pounder.”
